Murungi is a sweet girl who was born with albinism and lives with her mother in a highly populated and dangerous area near Kampala. The place is infested and dirty. Murungi’s father abandoned the family when he saw that Murungi was born with albinism, because it is considered a curse and shame in almost every part of the country. Murungi's mother makes a living by selling cassava on the streets of Nansana. They are Muslim. Murungi had to drop out of school because her mother couldn’t afford to pay school fees.
