Elvis was born perfectly normal, but at two years old he was in an accident which caused him to be hospitalized for two months. While receiving treatment, he was unintentionally given a dangerous drug which affected his brain and body, causing cerebral palsy. Elvis has not only lost his ability to function normally, but he also lost his father in a road accident. The family lives in extremely difficult conditions, since his mother is now on her own to care for the children. Elvis' mother is doing all that she can to care for Elvis and her two other children. She operates a small charcoal stall where she sells charcoal and small items. She grows yams and maize in a small garden.
