Kofi GH-HH850

Kofi was born prematurely to his 21 year-old mother who died one month after giving birth. Kofi weighed 3 lbs. and was blessed to be born in a hospital and placed in an incubator until he was 10 weeks old. At that time the doctors in Ghana went on strike and Kofi was sent home with his grandmother. Cecelia lives in a rural village with no income, no source of clean drinking water, and nothing to her name. She was also caring for Kofi's 4 year old sibling and and her own elderly invalid mother at the time. Cecilia realized quickly that Kofi would die without proper nutrition, so she came to the Orthopedic Center in Nsawam to beg Sister Elizabeth for money to buy some formula. Sister Elizabeth knew Kofi would not survive even one more day without specialized care, including nutritional formula for preemies, clean environment, sterile bottles, and access to medical care when necessary. So she left Kofi with Sister Elizabeth and trusted her to find Kofi a home that could care for him until the day she may be able to safely take him into her home and provide for him. Sister Elizabeth knows and trusts the missionaries at Haven of Hope and asked if we would be willing to take Kofi in. God must have had special plans for this little boy who, against all odds, miraculously survived a premature birth and a premature dismissal from the hospital. Kofi lives at Haven of Hope Children's Home and now is attending school at Haven of Hope Academy.
