Jimmy was born and grew up in the slums of Kamwokya with a single mother and two siblings. Their father abandoned them and left them in the care of their mother who struggled to provide for them. Jimmy and his family have gone through very tough times and even went hungry for days at a time sometimes. Their mother was only able to pick up odd jobs to sustain the family. Jimmy was always in and out of school because his mother could not afford to pay his school fees. Then at one point he stopped going to school. Thankfully at that time our ECM staff was made aware of his situation, and he was brought into the education sponsorship program when he was in Primary 1. He is now in S5 and will finish secondary school by the end of next year. He has one sponsor currently, but needs one more in order to be fully covered for his educational needs.
