ECM Missionary Since: 2011 Ministry: Health Services/Tegot Atoo Project Based in: Gulu, Uganda
Catherine Hayes is a devoted Christian whose heart was drawn to the forgotten children in Africa and the Acholi people during a short term missionary trip with our agency in the summer of 2008. Upon arrival in Gulu, North Uganda at the end of May 2011, she began her long term missionary work as a career nurse with ECM. Cathy is a volunteer nurse at Gulu Regional Hospital in the medical ward which is one of the busiest wards in the hospital.
After obtaining her Ugandan nursing license and valid work permit, she assists the staff nurses and helps with inserting IV lines, obtaining blood samples and dispenses medications both orally and intravenously to her patients. Although a registered nurse, Cathy does a variety of ministry work in Gulu such as preaching, teaching Bible lessons outreaching, leadership and children training workshops. She also works as a volunteer Public Health Nurse and oversees the health of the children in the Tegotatoo sponsorship program. On weekends she helps at the Saturday club where she often teaches Bible lessons.
There is always a great need for medical / ministry workers here in Uganda, and Cathy is so grateful that God has chosen her to fill that need. God’s calling on her life as a missionary to tend to the health needs of children and adults in Africa is a great way to express and show the love of God. We are thankful to have her partner with us!
There is strength and power in partnership, and together we can impact the world and accomplish marvelous things to the glory of God! Please prayerfully consider sowing into this ministry.
